Earlier today, a statement released by President Trump announced the death of Hamza bin Laden, son of Al Qaeda founder and 9/11 mastermind, three days after the 18th anniversary of the horrible terrorist attack by the radical Islamist group that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans.
The statement reads, ” Hamza bin Ladin, the high-ranking al-Qa’ida member and son of Usama bin Ladin, was killed in a United States counter terrorism operation in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region.”
According to CNN, Hamza bin Laden was reported to be following in his father’s footsteps by waging war against the West. He is referred to as an “emerging leader” of the terrorist cell Osama bin Laden made infamous. State Department resources have said, “items seized from the elder bin Laden’s hiding place in Pakistan at the time of his death indicated he was grooming Hamza bin Laden to replace him as Al Qaeda’s leader.”
“The loss of Hamza bin Ladin not only deprives al-Qa’ida of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father, but undermines important operational activities of the group. Hamza bin Ladin was responsible for planning and dealing with various terrorist groups,” the statement by President Trump continues.
Rumors had surfaced as early as late July indicated the death of the terrorist leader’s demise, but this is the first official statement by Washington which confirms his death.
